The Vine Church
Church Plant Update – 2/29/2006
When people ask how The Vine is doing I’m always at a loss for words. The Vine Church is doing better than I expected just five months in. We’ve been blessed with some of the things a real church has like a building, a full time Pastor, nice chairs, people to sit in those chairs, a good band and even coffee and pastries but we haven’t become a church yet. I’ve begun to see signs of people getting our missional purpose and it’s exciting. Others watch from a distance not sure they want any part in it.
We currently have a few unbelievers regularly attending more than one of our ministries. Intriguingly, they seem drawn to our church. I believe God is drawing them and I’ve been impressed with the people in the church who have come along side them to love and walk with them.
I’ve increased my time and energy with the men of the church. Before we simply stuffed our faces at a local restaurant for breakfast but now we are beginning “Brotherhood” – a men’s ministry where we will dig deep into the issues of Biblical manhood.
As we launch into the Gospel of John my desperate prayer to God is that he would reveal his glory to us and that His glory would become the force that drives us on mission together as a church. Our greatest need is for Jesus to manifest himself in our midst so that we can see Him as He is and follow Him. I covet your prayers in this regard.
Blessings,
Jesse
